Hey, my name is Ryan Schmalz. Some call me Coach, Dad, Skip (preferably), Biggie, and some other inappropriate things from fans from time to time.
I was raised in tiny farming community in Western Colorado, called Olathe. After high school, I played some junior college baseball, then attended Olivet Nazarene University, in Bourbonnais, IL. I was fortunate enough to play on a couple of pretty good teams, including two NAIA World Series appearances. I couldn’t get enough baseball, so I decided to start coaching. I spent two years at Morehead State University, then 7 years at Lincoln Memorial University. I am now the Head Baseball Coach at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. Most of all, I just try not to screw players up too much.
I thoroughly enjoy being a part of the development of young men, on and off the field. I also enjoy building things out of wood, fixing things, cutting grass, great music, grilling meat, and whatever else I get talked into.
I have an incredible wife, Beck, and 3 kids, Molly, Jane, and Hank.
